# Radiator Core

> Radiator Core is the Radiator 10 server for operators. It runs the same high-performance engine as Radiator Policy Server, packaged for ISPs and communication service providers with IP pool allocation towards broadband gateways, a dashboard, a REST API, Lua scripting and official container images.

**Who it is for.** Fixed-line and fibre providers, Wi-Fi offload operators, MVNOs and the platform teams that run their AAA.

**The problem.** Operator AAA has to scale, be automated and fit a container platform, while still speaking the RADIUS dialects that broadband gateways, OLTs and billing systems expect.

**Target outcome.** Carrier-scale AAA deployed and operated like the rest of your platform, with the protocol fidelity of Radiator.

## Measures

- Authentications per second and p99 latency under load
- Deployment and upgrade time through the platform pipeline
- Integration coverage with gateways, provisioning and billing systems

## What Radiator Core is

Radiator Core is the operator edition of Radiator 10. It shares the Rust-based engine, dashboard, log viewer, REST API, Lua scripting and container images of [Radiator Policy Server](/radiator/products/radiator-policy-server), and adds IP pool allocation to broadband network gateways from files, SQL or REST. The dashboard covers monitoring and licence management, and metrics are exposed for Prometheus.

## Where it is used

- Fixed-line and fibre subscriber authentication at broadband network gateways and OLTs, including GPON, XG-PON and XGS-PON access
- Decentralised Wi-Fi offload networks
- High-throughput enterprise and campus authentication where the Radiator 10 engine's performance matters

## The operator line

Radiator Software's operator products are Radiator Core, RadiatorDB, the [Service Provider Pack](/radiator/products/radiator-service-provider-pack), the [SIM Pack](/radiator/products/radiator-sim-pack), the Policy and Charging Pack and the GBA/BSF Pack. The packs are Radiator 4 generation products that run with Radiator AAA Server and cover Diameter, SIM authentication, policy and charging interfaces and VoLTE bootstrapping. We design which components your deployment needs.

## Licensing and support

Priced on subscriber numbers and quoted per deployment. Level9 Networks supplies and supports Radiator Core in the UK with escalation to Radiator Software. See [licensing](/radiator/services/licensing).

## Questions people ask

**Does Radiator Core run in Kubernetes?**

Radiator Software publishes official container images for amd64 and arm64 and has documented a Finnish operator running a pair of Radiator Core instances in Kubernetes for fixed-line AAA. We confirm platform requirements and sizing for your environment during evaluation.

**Does Radiator Core support SIM authentication?**

SIM-based EAP and the 3GPP AAA interfaces are provided by the SIM Pack, which is part of the Radiator 4 generation and runs with Radiator AAA Server. Operator deployments often combine both, and we design the split during evaluation.

**How fast is it?**

Radiator Software reports close to ten thousand EAP-TLS 1.3 authentications per second from a default installation, and publishes a performance case study. Real figures depend on your back-ends, which is what the evaluation measures.
